1. 1. Read the text below and complete the following tasks. 1.........If you look at any almost newspaper, you'll find a horoscope in it. But is there any scientific evidence for thinking that the positions of the planets influence our behavior, destiny or personalities? For most scientists the answer is 'Definitely not!' 2.......... It was the ancient Greeks who made astrology popular. Every Greek was given a horoscope, so astrologers had to invent more sophisticated methods to make the horoscopes different from one another. By the 1st century BC, astrology had become the complicated system we know today. 3..........Astrology 17th went in and out of fashion until the telescope was invented in the century. Once people could actually see the planets they stopped believing in astrology. By the 18th and 19th centuries almost nobody was making horoscopes anymore. 4. ......... But in 1890 a salesman named Allan William offered people who subscribed to his astrology magazine a free horoscope. This was such a success that by 1903 he was employing nine people to make up horoscopes and send them out to paying customers. 5. .........Today only a few people admit to taking astrology seriously though many more read their horoscopes in newspapers and magazines. Whether they believe what they read or not is another question.​
